The Rotary Club of Key Biscayne Foundation announces a unique wine tasting:
“NEW WORLD vs. OLD WORLD”
Proceeds will benefit The Rotary Club of Key Biscayne Foundation’s charitable work in the Miami area and beyond.
The Eighth Annual Rotary Key Biscayne Wine & Food Fest will take place this year on Friday, November 30, from 6:30 to 10 p.m., at The Links in Key Biscayne. Thirteen varieties of wines from the “New World” will complete with 13 of the “Old World” to gain recognition as the “Best Show” in each class.
This year’s event will also feature The Rotary Challenge, a new attraction for the wine aficionado. Besides the expert professionals tasting the wines, eight guests who donate $50 each towards the event’s fundraising goals will be invited to taste both wines in each category and rule which one is the best. It will be fun to compare how their verdicts compare to the choices made by their “professional” counterparts.
All wines in the tasting have been graciously supplied by Strategic Imports and will available for sale at the event through Stefano’s Wine and Liquors, our official Key Biscayne wine retailer. Stefano’s will coordinate all orders, payment, delivery and pick-up, and will donate 10% of sale proceeds to the Rotary Club of Key Biscayne Foundation.
Shari Gherman, president of the American Fine Wine Competition and the Gold Medal Wine Tour, is our wine director again this year. A variety of food delicacies prepared by several prominent South Florida restaurants are included in the price of admission.
This year’s event continues The Rotary Club’s collaboration with The Arc of South Florida. ARC will organize the silent auction portion of the evening and will receive part of the proceeds to fund its programming. Auction lots will consist of more than 100 items including travel, restaurant vouchers, sports memorabilia, and other goods and services. Additionally, the Rotary Club of Key Biscayne Foundation has designated proceeds to benefit Fundacion Manos del Sur’s children support programs in Colombia. Headquartered in Miami, Fundacion Manos del Sur is a non-profit organization that provides financial assistance to underprivileged children in Latin America in the areas of education, health, and nutrition.
